History and Usage:
A member of the Cruciferae (mustard) family, cabbage and kale originated in Europe.
Points of Interest:
Relatives of cabbage and kale include cauliflower, brussel sprouts, kohlrabi and broccoli. When wintertime approaches, cabbage and kale turn vibrant colors like magenta, violet, crimson and even white, which is unlike most plants and flowers that become vibrant in spring.
