Form and Size:
The stems of globe amaranth are about 12 – 20 inches long. At the stem end there are round blooms that are up to 1½ inches in diameter and made up of many tiny clove-like flowers.

Remove any leaves at the bottom of the stem, cut under water and place in fresh water with flower food.
History and Usage:
A member of the Amaranthaceae (amaranth) family, globe amaranth originated in the Mediterranean region. Part if its botanical name, globosa, means spherical, in reference to the shape of the flower head.
Points of Interest:
Relatives of globe amaranth include amaranth, celosia and blood-leaf. In the Victorian era, this flower represented the sentiment, “My love will never fade or die!” This is in reference to its long life, as in a vase of water it can last up to 3 weeks and when dried the flower will last for years.
