Form and Size: The woody stems of magnolia are of various lengths. At the stem ends there are oval-shaped leaves that are glossy with a leathery texture.

Care Instructions: Remove any leaves from the bottom of the stem, cut under water and place in fresh water with flower food.
History and Usage: A member of the Magnoliaceae (magnolia) family, magnolia originated in the southern United States. Its botanical name and popular name, magnolia, is named after Pierre Magnol (1638 – 1715).
Points of Interest: Relatives of magnolia include the tulip tree and Michelia. Magnol was the French professor of botany who is associated with grouping different plants and flowers into families.
