Broom

Common Name(s): Scotch Broom, Spanish Broom, French Broom

Form and Size: The stems of broom are leafless and 16 – 20 inches in height. The blooms are small, pea-like and are all over the green stem.
Vase Life: 7 – 10 days
Availability: spring
Care Instructions: Remove any leaves at the bottom of the stem, cut under water and place in fresh water with flower food. Broom should be treated with an anti-ethylene product.
History and Usage: A member of the Leguminosae (pea) family, broom originated in Europe.
Points of Interest: Relatives of broom include clover, lupine, acacia and wisteria. The white variety of broom is often dyed pink or purple and then put in arrangements.
