Form and Size:
Statice has small flowers with a papery texture. The stems are winged and branched and are 24 – 36 inches in height.

History and Usage:
A member of the Plumbaginaceae (plumbago or leadwort) family, it originated in the Mediterranean region. It can be found in central Asia and the Canary Islands. Its name comes from the Greek word “leimon” which means “a meadow.” This is a reference to the flower’s original habitat. The word “sinuatum” means “wavy-margined” which is referring to the shape of the stem. Statice is a popular filler flower, and can add originality and color to a dozen roses, or any mixed floral arrangement. It is also a great flower to use in dry arrangements because once hung upside down in a cool and airy place, it can last for years.
