| Form and Size: The leafy stems of leucodendron are 2 – 3 feet long. The stiff leaves are densely packed on the stem. At the stem ends there are hard, woody bracts that surround either a small flower or a cone. |

| History and Usage: A member of the Proteaceae (protea) family, leucodendron originated in South Africa. Its botanical and popular name, leucodendron, comes from the word “leukos” which is Greek for white and “dendron” which is Greek for tree. This is in reference to the silver foliage on leucodendron. This flower goes very well in contemporary or modern arrangements. |
