History and Usage: A member of the Primulaceae (primrose) family, lysimachia originated in China and Japan. Its botanical and popular name, lysimachia, is named after King Lysimachos of Thrace (circa 360 – 281 BC) because he supposedly pacified a bull with a stem of this flower. |
